Weekend Box Office: November 23-35, 2018

We were right again! As we predicted last week, 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' was the new #1 movie at the Box Office over the American Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend! The sequel to 2012 'Wreck-It Ralph' raked in the 2nd largest Thanksgiving opening ever with $56.2M. Coming in 2nd place was another sequel, 'Creed 2', continuing the 'Rocky' saga with the son of Apollo Creed with a $35M opening weekend. Dropping to 3rd place was the new animated version of 'The Grinch' with another impressive weekend of $30M, bringing its 3 week domestic total to $180M! In 4th place was last week's #1 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwaldwith a huge drop down to $29.3M this past weekend. With a $200M budget, they should still do well overseas, but if you're producing this movie you can't be happy with these results. Rounding out the top spots in 5th place with $14M is 'Bohemian Rhapsody' bringing its total to date to $152M, impressive on a $52M production budget!

It's worth noting there was one more brand new movie released this past weekend that failed to perform & capture one of the top spots. The newest version of the 'Robin Hood' story starring Jamie FoxxTaron Egerton only earned $9.1M landing it in 7th place, ouch! With a $100M budget, they better hope for solid overseas numbers! It might be time to stop making Robin Hood movies lol!

There is only one new movie opening in almost 2,000 theatres, the new horror 'The Possession of Hannah Grace'. So I think we can safely predict 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' will repeat at #1 after this coming weekend!
