As we predicted last week, 'Glass' repeated as the #1 movie at the Box Office this past weekend with $19M! Now with a 2 week domestic total of $73.5M, more impressively is that this M. Night Shyamalan universe crossover was made on an insanely low budget of only $20M. Repeating in 2nd place with $12.2M was 'The Upside' starring Bryan Cranston & Kevin Hart. 3rd place went again to 'Aquaman' with $7.3M. Now over $1.09B Worldwide, it's the highest grossing DC film of all time globally overtaking 2012 'The Dark Knight Rises'! In 4th place this past weekend was 'The Kid Who Would Be King' with $7.2M, the only new movie releases to crack the top 5 spots, albeit an underwhelming performance. In 5th place with $6.1M was 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse', now in its 7th week has matched domestically what is has earned foreign markets, $169M each, for a total of $338M worldwide!
There is only one new movie opening this coming weekend, 'Miss Bala' starring Gina Rodriguez of 'Jane the Virgin' fame. We don't see this movie doing very well against the current competition of films, and it is only opening in 2,000 theatres. I think we can safely predict 'Glass' will repeat a 3rd time as the #1 movie at the box office this weekend!
