So last week we predicted '1917', coming off the heat of a Golden Globe win for best drama, would be the new #1 movie at the Box Office and that's exactly what happened! The war film directed by Sam Mendes, knocked 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' off its 3 weekend reign at the top with a wide release opening weekend of $37M! 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' dropped to 2nd place with $15M and at the time of this post, bringing it to a worldwide total of $996M! So surely after this coming weekend it will cross the $1B mark at the Box Office! In 3rd place with $14M was 'Jumanji: The Next Level' and opening in 4th place with $10M was the new comedy 'Like a Boss' starring Rose Byrne & Tiffany Haddish. Rounding out the top spots in 5th place with an opening weekend wide release of $9.7M was the new drama 'Just Mercy' starring Michael B. Jordan & Jamie Foxx.
There are 2 new movies opening in wide release this coming weekend including the first post-marvel performance from Robert Downey Jr. in the new family adventure comedy 'Dolittle'! The latest adaptation of the infamous physician that discovers that he can talk to animals. Also opening this weekend is 'Bad Boys for Life'! It's been 17 years since the last film in this franchise starring Will Smith & Martin Lawrence as Miami Super Cops Lowrey & Burnett but the trailer looks great! This is a tough one to predict, 'Dolittle' will perform great with families and RDJ as the star, but I just have a gut feeling that the nostalgia and curiosity of the new 'Bad Boys' film will outperform everyone else.
So our official prediction is that 'Bad Boys for Life' will be the new #1 movie at the Box Office after this coming weekend. Thank you so much for tuning in to these weekly Box Office reports! For full box office results please use our source for all this info Box Office Mojo!
