With no new movies premiering this past weekend, we predicted last week that 'Ralph Breaks the Internet' would repeat a Third time in a row as the #1 movie at the box office & that's exactly what happened! In fact, all top 5 spots repeated in the exact same order as the weekend before but with different totals obviously. So this recap will be short and sweet. 'Ralph Breaks the Internet': $16.2M; 'The Grinch': $15M; 'Creed 2': $9.9M; 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald': $6.9M & 'Bohemian Rhapsody' with $6.1M.
Things will be different this coming weekend at the box office! There are 3 brand new movies opening in wide release including 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'. This new animated adventure is getting amazing reviews and can be enjoyed by both adults & kids! Also opening is Clint Eastwood's latest crime drama as actor & director 'The Mule' & the Sci-Fi action adventure 'Mortal Engines'. Although we are positive critics will love the 'The Mule' it will not be a huge box office draw & the trailer for 'Mortal Engines' looks just awful lol, so we feel we can safely predict the new #1 movie this coming weekend will easily be 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'!
It's worth noting that although it won't be box office champ, in 1,566 theatres this weekend is the PG-13 version of 'Deadpool 2' called 'Once Upon a Deadpool'. The trailers look hilarious, with new cameos by Fred Savage recreating his childhood role in the 1987 classic 'The Princess Bride' but as a grown man lol!
