Weekend Box Office: Dec 27 - Dec 29, 2019

We predicted 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' would easily repeat as the #1 movie in the Galaxy and of course it did with a second weekend box office total of $72.3M! At the time of this post, 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' has earned $362M domestically and $363M internationally for a worldwide total of $725M in just 11 days! It should cross the $1B mark by the middle of next week or following weekend.

With $35.3M 'Jumanji: The Next Level' stayed in 2nd place this past weekend on its way to $471M worldwide over the last 3 weeks. In 3rd place with $16.8M was 'Frozen II', still going strong after 6 weeks in theatres! Rounding out the top spots this past weekend were 2 new movies opening in theatres. In 4th place was 'Little Women' starring Saoirse Ronan with $16.7M and in 5th place with $13.3M was the new animated feature 'Spies in Disguise' starring the voices of Will Smith & Tom Holland.

There's one new movie opening in wide release this coming weekend
after New Year's Day, the latest remake of the horror classic 'The Grudge'. While horror films always do pretty well, it is in no way going to beat 'Rise Of Skywalker'. So our official prediction is an easy one, 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' will 3-Peat as your Box Office champion for the first weekend of 2020! Thank you so much for tuning in to these weekly Box Office reports! We wish you all the best in the New Year! For full box office results please use our source for all this info Box Office Mojo!
