As we predicted, 'Jumanji: The Next Level' was easily the new #1 movie at the Box Office with an opening weekend of $59.2M! The sequel is off to a hot start considering the previous 'Jumanji' film in 2017 had an opening weekend of only $36M and ended up with $962M worldwide!
After a 3 week reign at the top, 'Frozen II' dropped to 2nd place with $19M and has now crossed $1B worldwide! It's the 7th Disney owned property to hit that mark in 2019 and 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' is set to open today and that should easily break a few box office records!
In 3rd place this past weekend was 'Knives Out' with $9.1M and opening in 4th place with $4.6M was the latest film from the legendary Clint Eastwood, 'Richard Jewell'. It's the real life story of an American security guard who saved thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympics. Rounding out the top spots in 5th place with $4.2M was another new movie opening this past weekend, the Holiday Horror film 'Black Christmas'.
There are a few New Movies opening this weekend like 'Bombshell' and the latest adaptation of the musical 'Cats', but none of that really matters because Episode 9 'Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker' opens today!!! It will easily win the Weekend at the Box Office and many Weekends to come, the question is will it overtake 'Avengers: EndGame' as the highest grossing film of 2019 and all time worldwide? We shall see, but we can easily predict it will be the new #1 movie at the Box Office this weekend!
