Weekend Box Office: October 26-28, 2018 & November 2-4, 2018

As we predicted 2 weeks ago 'Halloween' repeated #1 at the Box Office for the weekend of October 26-28, 2018! An extremely impressive 2nd weekend of $31.4M bringing it's domestic total, at that time, to $126M on a $10M budget, just insane! The rest of the top spots were a repeat of the previous weekend with the exception of the only new movie in wide release, the military action thriller 'Hunter Killer' starring Gerard Butler. It opened in 5th place with a surprisingly low $6.6M opening weekend. We thought this movie looks great, we knew 'Halloween' would repeat but thought 'Hunter Killer' would at least crack the top 3.

This past weekend's Box Office (November 2-4) saw 3 new films opening in wide release and taking the top 3 spots! No surprise that the bio-pic of Queen front man Freddie Mercury, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' came in 1st place with an opening weekend of $51M. Followed by the new Disney fantasy film 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms' with a $20M opening weekend, however, underwhelming considering the $120M budget. In 3rd place was the new Tiffany Haddish starring comedy 'Nobody's Fool' with an $13.7M opening weekend. In 4th was 'A Star Is Born' with $11M in it's 5th week at the box office and rounding out the top spots was 'Halloween' with $10.8M, bringing it's 3 week domestic total to an impressive $150M!

Opening this coming weekend is the latest animated interpretation of the Dr. Suess classic 'The Grinch', this time being voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. Also opening is the newest addition to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo story with 'The Girl in the Spider's Web' & the horror/military thriller 'Overlord' produced by the man himself J.J. Abrams

I think we can safely predict 'The Grinch' will be the new #1 at the Box Office this weekend! It is opening in 4,141 theatres, huge fan base for the character, families will come out to this one! It will be interesting to see how the other top spots play out.
