Weekend Box Office: October 12-14, 2018

We predicted last week 'Venom' could repeat #1 at the Box Office & we were correct! In it's 2nd week the Marvel Anti-Hero movie earned another $35M bringing it's domestic total to $142M on a budget of $100M. Repeating in 2nd place was the new musical love story 'A Star Is Born', from first time Director & Star Bradley Cooper at $28M. It's domestic total after 2 weeks is now at $94M, impressive haul for this type of film and on a budget of only $36M. 'First Man' opened in theatres this past weekend & came in 3rd place with $16M. The bio-pic examining the life of astronaut, Neil Armstrong & starring Ryan Gosling fell little short of being able to compete with the top 2 spots, but is receiving great reviews and should be considered at award season. Rounding out the top stops in 4th place was new the new release 'Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween' starring Jack Black at $15.8M & in 5th place dropping from 3rd the previous weekend was the animated film 'Smallfoot'.

There is only 1 movie opening this weekend on a wide release, it's the latest in the 'Halloween' film franchise. We can safely predict this will be the #1 movie at the box office this coming weekend! In almost 4,000 theatres, it's also the 40th anniversary of the 1st film & they brought back Jamie Lee Curtis! Horror films tend to do well, especially in October, you factor in everything else we just mentioned, you can bet 'Halloween' will scare it's way to #1!

Tune in every Week as we recap the Weekend! For full box office results please use our source for all this info Box Office Mojo!
