Like Fat Thor wielding both "Stormbreaker" & "Mjnoir" it was another dominating weekend for 'Avengers: Endgame' at the Box Office! As we predicted they 3-Peated as the #1 movie with $63.3M this past weekend & at the time of this post a domestic total of $723M & an insane $2.49B worldwide!
Opening in 2nd place, we also predicted last report, was 'Pokémon Detective Pikachu' voiced by Ryan Reynolds! It had an impressive opening weekend of $54.3M, the highest for a Video Game Adaptation. Just wasn't enough to knock EndGame off the top spot. In 3rd place was 'The Hustle' starring Anne Hathaway & Rebel Wilson with $13M. This is basically a female reboot of the 1988 classic comedy 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' starring legends Steve Martin & Michael Caine. In 4th place with $7.1M was 'The Intruder' starring Dennis Quaid dropping from 2nd place last week & rounding out the top spots this past weekend was the comedy 'Long Shot' starring Seth Rogen & Charlize Theron with $6.2M.
There are a few movies opening this coming weekend worth mentioning, 'A Dog's Journey' starring Dennis Quaid & 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum' starring Keanu Reeves. The first is a movie about a dog that finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he meets, it's opening in 3,200 theatres. Then Keanu is back for the 3rd instalment as Super-assassin John Wick opening in 3,600 Theatres. He's on the run after killing a member of the international assassin's guild, this time with price tag on his head. No offence to 'A Dog's Journey' it will probably crack the top 5, but not going to knock off EndGame. 'John Wick: Chapter 3' has a shot but it's limiting their own audience considering the ultra-violence rating.
At the end of the day we predict 'Avengers: Endgame' has one more week as the #1 movie at the Box Office. 'John Wick: Chapter 3' has an outside chance & we wouldn't be totally shocked if it did take the top spot, but there's still too much box office bank behind 'Avengers: Endgame' not to come out on top one more time. It should also come close to, or surpass, 'Avatar' as the highest grossing film All-Time Worldwide at over $2.7B.
