Weekend Box Office: June 28 - June 30, 2019

It was a pretty easy prediction for us to make that 'Toy Story 4' was going to repeat again as the #1 movie at the Box Office considering the competition & that's exactly what happened! With $59.7M 'Toy Story 4' was #1 and after 10 days in theatres it has an impressive total of over $500M worldwide!

In 2nd place was 'Annabelle Comes Home' with $20.2M in its opening weekend. Horror always does well, but nothing was going to beat 'Toy Story 4'! They haven't released the budget on this latest in the Creepy Doll Annabelle & The Conjuring franchise, but they're usually pretty low, so this was probably a strong opening considering. In 3rd place was another new film opening,  'Yesterday' with $17M. It's a cool new movie from 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle, about a struggling musician realizing he's the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed. Such an original concept, really do want to see this one, just maybe not in theatres. Dropping one spot from last week was 'Aladdin' coming in 4th place with $10.1M and after 6 weeks now has an impressive worldwide total of $878M! Rounding out the top spots this past weekend in 5th place with $7.3M was 'The Secret Life of Pets 2.

Opening TODAY, July 2nd in theatres is 'Spider-Man: Far from Home'! Very early opening in the week on a Tues?! However with the American July 4th Long Weekend coming up they're clearly making an exception. So it's not even going to be close, our easy prediction is that with this extended time and a holiday opening weekend 'Spider-Man: Far from Home' will be the #1 movie at the Box Office! We can't wait to see this! Since this was such an obvious prediction let's step it up a notch and guess how much it will bring in! So from July 2nd through the Holiday Weekend we predict it will make $180M domestically. It will also continue to be the #1 movie for a few weeks at least until the new Disney Live-Action version of 'The Lion King' premieres on July 19th.

We also just posted our latest podcast here on kdogandfish.com as well as iTunes and it was ALL about 'Spider-Man'! We talk about all of the films starting with the Tobey Maguire trilogy to the amazing Tom Holland performances and we preview 'Spider-Man: Far from Home'! Click here to listen!
