Congratulations to Chloe H. of Burnaby, British Columbia for being the latest K-Dog & Fish Funko Funatic of the Week!!
Here is Chloe's story:
I received my first Pop as a present from a school mate in 2012 (Bilbo Baggins from the first Hobbit film), but it wasn't until 2014 that I started collecting more seriously. I fell in love with the variety of characters and their exceptional detail, and when they officially brought in the NHL series in 2016, I knew there was no going back!
Most of my Pops have personal value to me, such as characters from my favourite movies and TV shows, or musicians I've been fortunate to obtain. I've been to the Funko HQ in Everett, WA a few times and have picked up a few Freddy's! However, one third of my current collection is comprised of hockey Pops. I just love watching the game!
Most of my hockey Pops are signed by the players (some have pretty nice penmanship!), as are a number of my TV/movies figures. Vancouver is a hot spot for filming, so I've been lucky to meet various actors in-person throughout the past six years.
Some of my personal favourites are the core 4 cast of Disney's "Descendants" (my only complete set), Ezra Miller on my "Justice League" The Flash Pop, Freddie Highmore on my "Psycho" Norman Bates Pop, and Chandler Riggs on my "The Walking Dead" Carl Grimes Pop. I had an opportunity to interview Chandler for my website, The Permanent Rain Press, and he was a super grounded and kind artist to speak with. I never invested in a paint pen, so ninety-nine percent of them are signed in Sharpie and personalized, which I've been laughed at for - but they're not going anywhere!
I first heard of K-Dog & Fish through a Top Pops YouTube video, but only ordered from them this year due to my paranoia of ordering Pops online and not inspecting the box first-hand. I've never done it before but K-Dog & Fish have excellent customer service and are very responsive on Instagram, assuring me that they pick the best box to ship out - and they did! I was honestly amazed by the care in packaging, and the Pop box itself was in pristine condition. I'm looking forward to ordering from them in the future, knowing that they put a great deal into their brand and satisfying customers/friends of their shop. Also, it always feels good to support a Canadian retailer!
While I haven't been able to tune in to their livestreams (which I know by now are notoriously famous), I love getting caught up on their YouTube videos. K-Dog & Fish are so passionate about Funko and pop culture, which makes them so entertaining to watch - whether it's conversing about movies, testing their luck with mystery boxes, showing off their best pulls from hauls, or talking about a good haiku. Keep doing what you're doing, I can't wait to see the brand (and shop) continue to grow and succeed!
