"Luke, I am your father."

40 years later and that line is still one of the most recognizable pieces of dialogue in cinematic history and is regarded as one of the greatest plot twists of all-time. First hitting theatres in May of 1980, Star Wars fans were treated to a rare treat... a sequel that not only transcended the original, but one that has been considered by many to be one of the greatest films of our time. It grossed $547 million dollars world-wide and has been inspiring SCI-FI & Fantasy fans and movie lovers around the world ever since. 

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary, Funko has released some pretty incredible Pops that we are SUPER EXCITED for... let's take a closer look... 

Luke with Yoda • "How will I know the good side from the bad?" "You will know." This Pop is from the pivotal scene on Dagobah during Luke's training with Yoda just moments before Luke enters the cave to confront his fear... you can watch the scene here. Love the detail on this Pop and the appropriate scaling of Yoda on his back. 

Han Solo in Carbonite • "I do not want the Emperor's prize damaged. We will test it on Captain Solo." Impossible to forget the moment Vader raised Han encased in Carbonite from the chamber and how chilling it was to see for the first time. Now you can bring that moment to life with this awesome Pop! Thank goodness we know Han makes it out okay! 

Princess Leia on Bespin • "I don't trust Lando." This Pop comes straight from the Cloud City on Bespin. The Rebels were regrouping while on the run from Vadar and the Empire. They turned to one of Han's old pals Lando Calrissian, but as it would play out, Vadar had arrived just before the Rebels and prepared a trap that they would inevitably ensnare them. If only Han had listened to Leia and her doubts about trusting Lando! You can watch the scene here. 

Luke on a Tauntaun • "What's a matter, you smell something?" This amazing Pop Ride features Luke Skywalker riding his Tauntaun on the planet Hoth towards the beginning of the film. The size and detail of this Pop is incredible. If only Luke and his Tauntaun could have avoided the Wampa that was hunting them! 

Han Solo & Princess Leia 2-Pack • "I love you." "I know." • We have Han Solo IN the Carbonite... and this awesome 2-Pack features the heart-breaking moments that lead up to the freezing. Han and Leia embrace in a kiss before their famous 'I love you' 'I know' lines. Leia, Chewbacca, Lando and C-3P0 helplessly look on as Han is frozen in place. You can watch the scene here. 

It's interesting to note the parallels between this outfit for Leia and what Padme (her mother) wore on Geonosis in Star Wars  Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

Yoda on Dagobah • We return to Dagobah once again for this awesome Pop 'Town' featuring Yoda and his humble home. This one is definitely one of our favourite Yoda sculpts to date and the fact that you can now add his hut to your Funko collection is pretty neat! 

Darth Vader Meditation Chamber • "He's more machine than man." Easily one of the most recognizable villains in movie history, this Pop showcases Darth Vader himself within his Meditation Chamber - the only place where he can safely/comfortably go without his helmet. This Pop is just awesome. 

 

These Pops are some of the coolest we've seen to date from Funko and are crucial additions for any Star Wars collection. Rumours have been swirling that there may be more Pops to come in celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Empire Strikes Back, so we'll be sure to keep you updated if Funko announces any more!
