Gumby was created by Art Clokey in the early 1950s. The name "Gumby" came from the muddy clay found at Clokey's grandparents' farm that his family called "gumbo". Gumby's appearance was inspired by a suggestion from his wife, Ruth, that Gumby be based on the Gingerbread Man. First featured on the 'Howdy Doody' Show in 1955, Gumby quickly became a huge hit! Followed with his own TV series and Movies. Gumby is a Pop Culture Icon and now here in Funko form!
